Why Honduras?
Honduras, located in the heart of Central America, is one of the poorest third world countries in the world and is considered the second poorest country in the western Hemisphere. Though parts of its capital city, Tegucigalpa, have become more westernized, the greater majority of Hondurans continue to live extremely impoverished lives. Many families live together in one room shacks with little or no water and electricity. Why the Deaf community?
Perhaps one of the hardest impacted populations in Honduras is the Deaf community. With less than 1% of Deaf Honduran children graduating from high school, Deaf Hondurans face an uphill battle in their attempt to be equals even in this third world country.
Because God has called. There is literally no better time than the present to make an eternal impact on the Deaf community of Honduras. Over the years, great strides have been made ... but there's still more work to be done.
New Life Deaf Ministry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and focuses on accomplishing its mission in four specific areas:
