Deaf Leadership

Deaf Reaching Deaf

Training up a core group of deaf leaders has been a central focus of NLDM since 2000.  The purpose of this group is to train, disciple, and mentor Deaf Honduran Christian men and women.  These Deaf leaders are committed to their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, desire to grow in the Lord, and desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with other Deaf and hearing people.  They are developing both leadership skills and evangelism techniques so that they may become more effective in reaching out and leading others.  Within New Life Deaf Church, the core Deaf Leadership Group is responsible for all aspects of the church including messages, dramas, music, children's class, finances, and counseling.

Melvin Lazo and Manuel Chavez serve as the church elders.

Melvin, New Life Deaf Church's lay pastor, and his wife Wendy,  volunteer many hours searching for not yet reached Deaf adults in the community, discipling current church members, and planning activities with the Deaf Leadership and the church.
